BIF and BIF practice.
I had just arrived at one of my favorite spots at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and was testing the camera and settings when this Great Egret flew into sight so I took a few practice shots...sort of warming up. There were numerous dragonflies zooming all around so I decided to practice on them (your laughter is expected). I only managed to catch a few but it was a good exercise. Shots of birds after that seemed easier. It was fun.
Canon 7D, Tamron SP 70-300MM, 1/1250, f7.1, ISO appx 200, manual, AF expanded spot focus.

A great way to practice your BIF skills. Dragonflies are notoriously difficult to capture. Well Done!

Thanks! I really enjoy shooting BIF's and this was a good way to warm up. It was early and my arms needed stretching...etc. I guess it is similar to a golfer taking practice swings.

Amazing dragon fly shots!
Good practice! You did a great job on these!
I actually practice on a ball rolling around the yard that I have my hubby throw!
GOOD SHOT ON THE DRAGONFLIES, I have tried this with no success. Keep up the good work
good job on all counts and good practice.

Thanks ebeane! Of course luck was involved in the few I got in focus but it was fun to try.
