Macro vs Prime

I use my 100 macro for traditional photography as well, tack sharp.

How could you know this? Is just because they have the same focal length or do you have experience with both. Actually Tamron makes two 90mm macros according to their website, but other than focal length there is no reason to believe that the images will be identical. One may be far superior to the other, or not.

There are actually two-- but I don't know the difference. Both focus to 1:1 and are, therefore macro. I have an older (all manual) Nikon mount that is not macro-- but close-up-- it stops at 2:1. I am unaware of any current Tamron 90mm lens that is not macro. I couldn't find one listed on their list.
