Great image! Taken before or after sampling? :) I love the saturated colors, strong light and the reflections on the bottle.

I have made beer, wine and mead for over 50 years. I love raspberry in all of them. But, my favorite is black-raspberry mead. I have to have the black-raspberrys deep frozen when shipped from Oregon. Ends us about $50 a pound and then after a gallon on good honey, the cost is about $150 to make 5 gallons. And it is worth it.

I have never tried mead. I had a little comercial mead once, and didn't care for it. I will have to study up on this and try to find a good recipe. Thanks for the suggestion.

Linda,
You read that to make good mead is expensive. So, if I had made the black raspberry mead commercial to sell, I would have to charge something like $35 a bottle. Well, people just don't walk into a liquor store, see a bottle of mead for the first time. If it sells for $14, they may try it. But never would they try something at $35 a bottle. So to get it down to $14 a bottle, the meadery will only use half of the fruit they should use, that drops the alcohol. The result is a 9% alc. and little fruit and honey flavor. I wish you could taste a bottle of the real McCoy. Cheers.
Tony p.s. I attached a snapshot of the mead a couple of years ago. Five gallons each of black raspberry, red raspberry, and marion berry. The marion berry is truly superb.
