I am currently in the process of researching the idea of setting up a website...Any ideas, pros and cons of which way I should go with this? What are some good hosting sites out there .thanks

I'm using SmugMug Pro website to host my photos for the last 3 years. You can customize this website and set your own prices for the photos you sell. They are also updating their website and adding new features all the time. I definitely recommend you consider using SmugMug. Arnold
I use webs.com. Very easy for a first time website. You can customize it and add countless pages. If you stick with the freebie version, they do place a banner ad at the top of each page but they do have upgrade options that are pretty inexpensive. I am not the best website builder so this one works well for me. Its the best free hosting provider I have found. They even have an option to have a mobile web version of your site.
I agree with Audubin -- Smug Mug is one of the best if you are looking to post lots of pictures. Easy to upload and you can set it up to auto-watermark your shots. And you can choose "right click protection" so they cannot be copied from the site.
I originally created my site (
www.MeredithImages.com) with Microsoft Office Live, but it's a pain to put pics in one at a time, you had to watermark before uploading and you cannot right click protect. This used to be a free site, but they are changing it to a paid site.
I still have this as my base site (for now anyways), then link to my Smug Mug site from each page for my galleries.
