This happened about 40 miles from my home. It has gone viral. Do you think his rights have been violated or was this kid just being a rude punk?
You're not going to start anything with me from your response because I have mixed feelings. And will not argue either way.

I was unable to listen to the video, because it would have made impossible listening to the closing arguments of the Zimmerman trial. It seems to be about dogs sniffing. Recently I researched that. Some 70& - 80% of their "positive hits" are actually incorrect. That casts doubt on their indiscriminate use, because it arbitrarily creates "just cause," enabling police without reason to search nearly everyone's vehicle. It therefore casts doubt on the Supreme Court case that upheld it in traffic cases, Illinois v Caballes.

Good point. It kind of address positive hits in the video. And you can clearly see the officer encouraging the dog to jump at the window.

The kid was an ass. He resisted the instructions of the officers and probably came close to being arrested based on that. He did everything he could to arouse the suspicions of the officer...and guess what, his suspicions being aroused, the officer wanted to take a look in the car. I say he had reasonable cause based upon the actions of the driver. If he wasn't carrying drugs, it's possible he was carrying weapons. He certainly behaved as though he didn't want to be messed with by the police. Best bet not to tick off the police...comply with their instructions. If they want you out of the car, get out of the car.

And guess what, he wanted the kid to roll down the window so he could smell alcohol better, for one thing. It was a dui checkpoint. So roll down the window, dummy.
