Has Obama quit appointing "Czars"? I wonder if someone finally got to him and convinced him that "czar" has a decidedly negative connotation for some people?

Not to defend anybody but I like facts to be correct.....that appellation was first instituted under some previous Pres ....!

Why didn't you make an issue of it when Bush appointed 33 new "czars" ?

I did back then but 39 is till higher than 33 - and still counting. Why noy call them secretaries, or overlords? Why czars?

They used to be called Presidential Advisers until the conservatives decided to change the name after Obama was elected.

Because it is a pejorative term and was never used until Obama was elected. Fox, Beck, Limbaugh, all started calling the advisers czars.

There have never been any U.S. government offices with the title "czar". The habit of using "czar" started with Roosevelt, but the real heyday of the czar started with W. BushÂ’s administration. Both sides of the media are at fault for pushing the term - specifically NPR with Bush and Fox, Rush, et al. for Obama.
"czar" was picked up to shorten long complicated titles. Yeah, it was a stupid choice - I agree. But look who's running the media.
