Best On-line photo schools and On-line Work Shops

For those that of you who have experienced some On-line Schools and/or Work Shops, please give me the names of the best ones out there.
So far I have only tried the "New York Institute of Photography", which claims to be the oldest school in the countr, some 100 + years old.
They have really nailed the curriculum and have a wonderfully support mechanisim in place, but their material is so outdated it's nut funny.

They even make this claim, and I quote; "As you will see, we made this training video a few years ago, so the photographs are using film cameras. Don't let that put you off. The techniques you'll learn are exactly the same in this digital age". I agree that lots and mabe most of the techniques are the same, but to make the statement that film and digital are the same is nuts, especially when you consider all of the post processing power that is available with Digital.
Sorry, I guess I started to get a little of track.
Please let me know of the best Schools out there.
Thanks in advance,
Mwendell

Just finishing unit one (six lessons) of the NYIP professional program and have yet to run into antiquated material.Just now getting use to the audio-to-lesson book relationship and how to integrate the two different presentation forms into one sensible learning tool.

I'm not sure where the film portion mentioned above is and will refrain from looking forward to find flaws in their logic when I don't know how the total curriculum design works. It has taken me quite a while to accept the audio portion integration with the hard-copy paper work. But by forcing myself to work at accepting something I first found unacceptable I believe all will be fine. I will let you know if something crashes and burns my progress through their program.

I have taken a couple of course thru PPSOP by Bryan Peterson. I really like the format of his class. I found the critiques invaluable and the group input helps to feel like you are IN the classroom.

Hi. I'm currently taking a 4week on-line class through betterphoto.com. There are lots of different courses, and supportive feedback in the "Campus Corner" where you post and comment on each other's work, plus very specific recommendations from the instructor. The class I am taking submits the lesson on Wednesdays with an assignment for shooting during the upcoming week. We have the week to post our submissions which correlate with the skill area covered in that week's lesson. Check it out to see if this would be something of interest to you.

I was in a park that is popular for taking wedding pictures at. I was taking some pictures and a photographer who was there that day for pleasure rather than work seen me and started talking with me. He actually recommended the NYIP course to me. I looked it up and I liked what I seen but I have not yet signed up so unfortunately I can not comment on the actual quality of the program.

I've taken classes at Better Photo, and I liked them. They offer a lot of different subjects and different levels, from basic to pro. The teachers are pro photographers, many of them well known in their fields.

They promise some cyber Monday specials tomorrow, so it might be worth checking out.

I've read several of Bryan Peterson's books and think he is not only a good author but also one heck of a photographer. I would like to learn from him.
Do you have a contact email or anything else to reach him, so I might sign up for one of his programs?
Thanks,
Mwendell
