I do it all the time. Open a window, www.keepvid.co and then in the youtube window highlight the url (www...... ) and copy it. and paste it into the box in the keepvid screen. Another way is use videolan VLC media player, and there is in the menu an option yo convert or save. Not so easy as keepvid. There other sites similar to keepvid. Good luck ANdrew

OK Alawry, I've downloaded keepvid.com, pasted the URLs in to the box and downloaded them. Now what do I do? There doesn't seem to be any option to burn them on to a DVD.

JR1, I know to Goggle most questions to get an answer, but sometimes it is nice to have some personal interaction. Just a thought, not a slam. Gary

In Windows, yes. Get free Realplayer software from www.real.com. I've used the program for years. Once installed, it adds a pop up on YouTube screen. When you are watching a video on YouTube , a download button will pop up on upper right of the video. If you miss it, you can put your cursor near the upper right of the video screen an it will pop up.

I use it all the time.

Realplayer is a decent program for watching video and audio that you get from the Internet.

Well, burning to DVD is another operation entirely. I usually download as MP4, you would have seen you had a lot of options, wmv and FLV to name a couple. I find MP4 works for me, I don't put them to DVD but to make a DVD to play in a regular player hmmmmmm. You might be able to use "windows movie maker" but I would use a video authoring program and my favourite is "Nero". It's easy enough when you have the right software, it takes a long wordy description to waly someone thru it. I just save as MP4 and replay on computer at my leisure. Or write it out to a USB flash drive, my TV has a slot in the side for that and works well. Good luck, learning's fun. Andrew.

Yes that's right I forgot about that one. Eacy way, no options it saves it to "My Videos" folder straight up.

There are many ways to download from YouTube, but there are also ways for the poster to prevent it. For example, you're not going to be able to download an instructional video that someone is selling. You can watch it and use a camcorder and then transfer it to your computer.

In the end I succeeded in doing exactly what I wanted to do, burning directly from YouTube on to a DVD. I did this with the aid of a programme called freestudio.com kindly suggested by another contributor. By far the easiest programme for me, a non-geek, to use.

I wasted a few DVDs and CDs trying with RealPlayer etc. but freestudio was quick and uncomplicated and most importantly, it did the job.

Glad to hear that.

Actually, you can install a Firefox addon "VideoDownloadHelper" (there are quite a few similar plug-ins for Firefox), it will put a little icon in one of the browser's toolbars that will let you download the currently-running video.

As for burning to DVD, pesonally, I have installed ImgBurn and DVD Creator on my computer, both of them works well for that stuff:

See: how to burn YouTube video to DVD

I have been using them for a long time. It may be other options out there, for sure.

Many thanks for your suggestion Quintus. However, having found a programme that I can use, tjhat is easy and fast, for the moment I will stick with it. I'll bear your suggestions in mind if ever the need arised though.
