This photo taken sometime ago in northwest Oklahoma. Have not been able to positively identify it. Could not get close so the photo is highly cropped and not so good. Would appreciate any help to identify it.

I should state the the bird acted more like a scissor tail flycatcher and there were some of these in the area but it was quite different than the scissor tail being more brown on the body and top of head.

looks similar to a clarks nutcracker that I have spotted in southern colorado. A very vocal bird with varied calls, also will take-off from a power line going straight up and landing back where it took-off from.

Thanks for the reply but I don't believe it is a scissor tailed. I posted these photos that were taken in the same area. They had young with them and it just did not seem to fit.

I just looked at photos of the fork-tailed flycatcher on internet and some of the photos look very similar to this one. What do you think? I appreciate your looking. Thanks

Can't identify the bird, but I love the pose and that yellow flower.

Thanks for looking. The bird was rather shy and I could not get close enough for a good photo. The bird was in open country - no trees. Used the car for a blind but it still moved around. Of course the Sun flower just happened.
