1 TB SD Card?

It's not a matter if, but when, the first 1TB SD card will be introduced. Would anyone like to predict when the first 1TB SD card will be available? They were working toward it in 2009, so they must be making progress.
Assuming you have a 1TB card in your camera, having it go bad, even when it is only half full, could ruin your day. Imagine the upload times and the huge amount of processing you would have in store for yourself.

In addition to the risk you are taking when you store that many photos on one card, it does seem that the more room you have to store anything, the lazier you get about getting rid of what you don't need. It's like women who carry a big fat purse and men who have an extra garage. Not good.

Yep, that's what I'm talking about. We have 2 basements, and we have our stuff, our kids stuff, my niece's stuff, and my mom's stuff. I'd like to take a torch to all of it. :D

I refuse to get a storage unit. I've gone into clean out mode.

How dare you compare my garage to my wife's purse? The whole neighborhood knows her purse is much bigger. She threw her purse in the corner of the room, one time and we had to get additional under pinning built into the foundation. Let's not go there.
Back on topic. I'm waiting for CF cards to become obsolete. They are bigger, have problematic pins and SD cards have become faster, with greater capacity.

Not that I had ever considered the D800, but the CF card would have me looking elsewhere.

Hummm. Yet the best of the best cameras still use CF cards. Must be a good reason.

But they're slowly changing. My 6D has SD cards and my 7D has CF. I'll bet the 7D replacement will have SD only.

One day I forgot to but the SD card back in my D-800. The camera went right on storing photos in the CF card without any problems. I believe the card has only been out of the camera once or twice.

I'm too much in the habit of misplacing SD cards to even consider a 1 TB card. Besides, just filling up an 8 GB card takes me forever.
