Thanks for the great photos of flowers in bloom. How detailed they are and how intricate in each design. I am always amazed for all that I see.

I may have been photographing for some time, but never ever gave it much thought. I do however try and try over again to replicate that which I see with my eyes and to know and find that shade and context in the item I photograph. I learn each and every time.

Thanks for sharing your photos of your flowers...I love the peach rose...keep sharing. Nice work!

Roses make the best "practice" subjects , don't they!?
These are very nice! I love the blood-red color (but some are a little too dark for my taste. I'm a fan of contrast big-time, to make colors pop... but maybe the mid-tones could be tweaked a little bit?)

I ESPECIALLY love... and I DO mean love ... the ones where you've made the background(s) in b&w, leaving the rose itself the natural color!

Congrats to you, and many thanks for sharing them :)

(Kudos to your wife, on growing such beautiful flowers, too. Roses can be finicky!)

Thanks for the comments and the kind words tilde531. I will play more with the midtones in the future. Yes, I like it when the colors "pop" and catch your eye right away.

What I'm learning to do is to do as little post production work as possible...so the shot I take is pretty much it. Hopefully one day I won't have to work in post production except for effects.

Thanks again and thanks for looking.

Hello...I do not have the program you are referring to. I have several photo service and augment programs but only one has a "watermark" designation, but what it has in the watermark line is the name of the company, in this case Fast Stone. I also have PhotoScape but do not see this option.

I guess I will have to leave things as they are. I can not afford to buy other programs. For the most part, all that do have need for has been adequate in the two main programs I have mentioned.

Have a good evening.

Footshift, I think I meant to say "really impressed" and didn't quite make it.

I agree, only thing is it's too time consuming if you really get into it. 'Course, I talk too much but it's tricky to keep up with everything that's going on in here and yet, you don't want to let anything get by you 'cause there's so much good stuff. I'm just all over the place and I know I'm not doing it justice. Oh well.

Greetings Footshift and gessman....sorry, but I do not always respond to each and every notation or e mail reply. I always appreciate good reviews and information on how to improve what I am doing. I always wish I knew more, but there has not always been time to learn things right.

I will throw in some new photos from this past week. Hope you enjoy them.

I know what you're saying gessman...this can be a "time eater". This forum is a good one with so many good people...and you can't be everywhere at once...so I know the feeling about not doing it justice. I'm just going to absorb what I can and do what I can to learn and pass on the little I can to help. Thanks for being here. Believe me...it helps.

Very nice set here Jack. I'm glad you posted the selective color shots along with the full color version. Everyone's taste will differ with that technique. Always remember it's your opinion that counts. That being said I would have tried different angle to shoot these flowers because the suns not over your shoulder casting a heavy shadow on your flowers. Fill flash would have fixed the problem. Other than that you've got good composition and some lovely flowers there.

Thanks Bob...it's those little "gems" that helps put another "facet in the diamond". Your feedback is well-taken. I've also learned from your other critiques you've given on this forum. As a photography student, I want to learn from anyone that wishes to share...and likewise I want to share with anyone that wishes to learn. Thanks for being here.

Very nice snailgarter. I see you're like me - always out in nature looking for those instances when something look like something it's not, like the alligator. Not a fan of spiders but yours is about as good looking a spider as I ever saw. I really like the butterfly. I'm a "fill the frame" kind of nut and left to my own devices, I'd crop in on that to emphasize the butterfly, assuming that was your primary goal - the butterfly. It's very nice either way. Somehow, and I don't recall how or why it occurred, but I found a totally intact dead Monarch a few summers ago. It was frozen in time with, wings out, and front legs just right so I could hang it on a flower. I, never being one to avoid excesses, didn't simply hang it on "a" flower. I hung it on every flower on the mountain side where we lived. I have a lifetime supply of butterfly shots on whatever color flower you might desire. Amazing.

Enjoyed your photos Snailgarter...that "gator" snout on the tree was pretty unique...love the texture of the tree itself. I too am not a spider fan, but it seems you captured those spindly legs in the web she lives in.

I am enjoying the butterfly...I like the "translucency" effect through the right wing...I'm thinking I'm seeing a bit of the flower behind it. You might want to crop in a bit tighter. Also I've been trying to keep in mind on the rule of thirds that I've been learning so much of and perhaps putting it in the lower right corner of a recropped image would be my suggestion.

Keep on sharing...I'm learning to as I go through the many shot of those here on this forum. Always learning....thanks for sharing.
