Use wide angle lens. Set to infinity, and largest aperture (f 2.8). 3200 ISO, self timer at 30 seconds. Put on tripod and aim at the sky.

I was fortunate to have a pro at the house over the weekend and he showed me how to set up for night shots. Next, I will set the timer for about 1 our and try for star trails.

One more detail. Take your lens off of Auto and set to manual.
