Any and all suggestions to improve my bird photography skills are welcome and appreciated.
These are taken in three different locations on my way home from work today. I was using the Nikon D200 and a Nikon 70mm-300mm lens. The flight shots were taken handheld the others were taken resting on the car window.

Wow, you did a great job! We have some of those living near our house, I always hear them, but rarely see them. Thanks for sharing!

I enjoyed your series, especially 1,3,parents with little one and the last shot. We go to a preserve to see and photograph them, they let me get rather close.

Thank you. We have a lot living here, but I can never get close enough to get a decent photo. These are in an area where they see lots of people and cars, so they are a little easier to photograph. I would still like to get just a tad closer.

Thank you. This is the first time I have ever been able to get close enough to get a chick. They seem to be fairly attentive to it.

Thank you. These were shot in Waterloo Recreation area. They aren't as spooky as the ones near us, but they still wanted you to keep your distance. We have seen this pair with the chick before so hopefully I will see it again.

Very nice set! I love their ruddy color. The ones here are more grayish.

A really nice set. I'm new at bird photography myself. I found that boosting the ISO so that I can shoot fast shutter speeds got me some good results. I try not to go over 800 ISO to keep the noise down. That allows me to shoot at 1000/s + in the evening while there is still light. I think your photos are very good. They are all sharp and look great in the download. Well done.

Delightful shots! Since the sandhill cranes migrate through Washington, I never thought of them as having babies in the northern states. Lucky you!
