Not bad. I have been photographing fireworks for years. If that is your best shot, I would say: do you use the tripod and remote release? Do you take a whole bunch of photos? I get so involved with taking fireworks pics it totally consumes me, I spend the whole time taking photos one after the other. One trick is when to press the shutter release, on my camera I thought I noticed a delay from when I pressed the button to when the camera shot. Out of a 100 photos you will get a lot of lemons and a few gems. What I wish I did more of this year was try more variations of settings, especially aperture and exposure length (several seconds or use bulb and manually control time and/or hold a black card over lens, removing it when the fireworks go off..I didn't get a chance to use my card this year. It was dark, I was having problems like finding the bulb setting), as you review on the led screen you will notice different effects from changing the settings and begin to be able to control the results and make improvements. I had a new camera this year and was a little unfamiliar with the settings, I noticed it was set on an auto setting so I changed to manual. I also changed to manual focus and later on the PC moniter I noticed the changes I made to manual resulted in a noticeable improvement in quality.

Hi, Cal - this was my first time also. I made it a lot harder on myself, but I knew it was an exercise. I just went online to order a new remote and to scope out a better tripod. There are still quite a few fireworks left for the season here in Baltimore (at Camden Yards), etc. so I will try again....and again. I think shooting fireworks is good just because there are so many factors involved, it kind of helps me to learn to think on my feet.

Not that it matters much, but yours look a lot better than mine :( Keep shooting, Cal.

Very good, shame about the bunt out bit in no one, that said they are better than what I got with my first try.
