Camera Storage

Probably a silly question but what is the best way to store a camera if not in a bag? Lots of times mine is setting on a table. Lens up or setting on the bottom, resting on LCD screen? I have seen some people rest their camera on the bottom with it resting on the lens hood,is it to heavy and possibly damage the mount? What do you think?

I store all of mine in Lowepro bags with silica gel

Do you mean "storing," as in sitting somewhere for weeks or months? Or do you mean where the camera is sitting between daily usage?

I "store" mine in a camera bag, but never for months on end. If I'm using one more or less daily, I have it sitting nearby. It's on its bottom, with the lens sticking out front, possibly resting on the lens shade.

I would never store, stand the camera on the back as debris can fall onto the mirror

I agree with jerryc41

Do you mean debris can fall onto the mirror if the lens is
not on the camera, or that some debris already in the camera will fall onto the
mirror even if a lens is on the camera?

I agree. I am looking at two right now on the table because I may be going out in the next day or two. These are the two I normally use and they are often on the passenger seat covered by a towel to keep the sun off of them. I brought them in yesterday to exchange lenses.
