Hell-o. I'm Ken from Irmo, SC. Small town about 10 miles N. of Columbia. I love the Nikons and have three.
D3000, D3100 and D5100. I am from a slightly remote area that has no 'bigger than life' photo ops, however,
the farm scenery is real nice and so are the macro shots I get occasionally.
Nice to be here and should soon be a regular. 8-)

Hi Swimbob. Glad to know there's a neighbor close by. Would that 2 miles be up I-26 or more close to W.Cola.?
I'm between Irmo and Ballentine.

Mornin' to you both Hal and Rich.
Well now, this is turning out to be an extraordinary experience. Two folks who live close by and so many enlightened and welcoming people who have a great outlook using similar cameras.
I, for one, am slowly approaching the full-frame paradigm shift in my own world and learning based on my total experience.
Just last night, I enjoyed taking motion shots on my D5100 with a Sigma 70-300mm zoom. It was a baseball game at night
and I learned that when using the 'motion icon' on the dial for speedy shots does not work so fast at night as the 'shutter priority' mode does at night. Also, using the 'manual' (M) mode, f/4, and speed at about 1/150th, ISO at 500 also works a little better.

Who knows, I may even find another setting. Perhaps 'movie mode' then pick a frame to be a photo.
Gosh guys, imagine 4 settings to get the same exact framed shot from one batter.
My Nikon life is getting better. In fact !! , the night shots under the lights are so much better with the contrast than shooting the same thing during the day. The darkend sky, full stadium lights, colorful uniforms and my unbeatable team sure provides a great game to shoot.
I have many motion shots at night to share that I like better than daytime. I'lll submit some soon in the "photos" section and maybe some farm landscapes, too.

I'll be in touch,
Film at 11pm.
Ken

Hi JRM ! What part of Newberry county would that be ? I have several friends and some baseball players from Newberry.
Our American Legion team sports a few players from there.
I've been through the county taking tons of pix of farms and landscapes not too remote but more close to downtown.
