Remember the opening sequence of "Men in Black?" There is something about the view of the back of this dragonfly's head that is kind of creeping me out!
(edit) If you have dragonfly or other insect shots that support my theory, please post 'em here :)
Wow! That's fantastic! They are really complex little machines when you look up close, aren't they?
Linda, this shot is way cool! Download is so sharp and shows such detail! I'm with you on Men. In Black, they probably got the idea from your photo!
Ahh, see...now we gotta neuralize you...look right here! ;-) Great shot.
Great shot of a beautiful insect!
Thank you all! I edited my title and text to ask for photos from others that might help us get to the bottom of this "alien" theory :)
Wonderful shot Linda. Like everyone else, I too love the Dragonfly. I was counting the spars on each wing and they seem quite symmetrical. However, the shadow on the rock on both starboard wings gives the impression that they are double wings ike a biplane. It is complicated enough that they have four wings and the front ones work independent of the rear ones.

That is very cool to know! Thanks so much. I need to read more about dragonflies as I do find them quite beautiful and fascinating.
Wife & I went kayaking on the Rainbow River on the 4th and these guys would swoop down and land on us. Actually quite friendly. ;-)

I've had them land on me a couple of times. Neat critters. Thanks for viewing!
Linda: The blue coloring makes me think that it came from Pandora (Avatar movie). Great capture. They sure are strange looking things. How close were you to it?
Thanks for posting

I had one land on my kayak while paddling on a lake.
Great sharp focus on that intricate insect.
This is a crop that was shot at 1800 mm equivalent. I think I was about 6 feet away, but can't recall exactly. Maybe someone can do the math :)
Thanks so much for viewing and commenting Steve. I never did see Avatar :)
