How long do you keep photo files for customers of senior pictures and such. I keep families and children photo files forever but am wondering about senior pictures

I have a few photos that fit that category, but nothing significant. My knee-jerk response is that I keep every photo forever, once I decide it's a keeper. Hard disk space is cheap and you never know when someone will approach you wanting an image from years ago.
Just my thoughts.

You know, if someone has original class photos from an entire class, he might be able to do some business at class reunions. Many people will have their old yearbooks, but getting a newly printed class photo would appeal to many. Better yet would be a group shot of the class - same picture for everyone.

There are lots of low cost or free online storage options, like Jerry said if you have the photos contact the reunion chairman every year and let them know you have original photos available.
Amazon has a new storage called glacier it's like 1 cent a gig. But it cost more to get the photos back, but they are stored someplace just in case you ever need them again. In these days of no photo albums 20 years from now people are going to be looking for photos of events. I work with a guy how just keeps his photos on an sd card, I think he still has his original card I offered to help him get them off the card but he is happy with what he has. He brings in his Nikon after every vacation to show his photos. That's kinda the current mentality of a lot of people

We can all think of any number of reasons why someone may want to go back to older photos. Would storing them DVD be an option? Don't know if you keep a hard-copy file of clients but a DVD would be easy to store in that folder and would allow you to clean up your Hard Drive and only keep your most active/recent files handy.

An addendum to my comment, I keep everything on DVDs at my best friend's house. Think it is important to have your stuff out of one place.

I have photo's from the 1916-20+. Some have no names but I'd love to find families of these folks.
Thankfully these pic's have been kept in the family for these generations waiting for this technology to be invented to enhance & expose their stories.
Who knows what the future holds? There may be a stream of people seeking your pic's out in 100 yrs from now. I ddid with my grandfathers pic's. And Man! what a story they have revealed.
Storeage is a bitch but don't ditch them.
I must say tho', 'Names' will make it easier for that generation. A photo without a name is so much harder.

I keep the majority of my files stored on external hard drives. When the you take senior photos especially so many high schools want to use photos taken at an earlier age of the seniors to make a collage of the photos of the seniors taken at different ages
