Three from Missouri. I don't see many white cone flowers, so I was suprised to find this one. The first two are blooms from a hosta plant.

Pat, you are awesome. thank you so much,,,,Jim
Today I am trying something new. I always try to host Challenges in which I feel comfortable and can easily explain and go out and take photos knowing exactly what I want even before I leave home.
Today is different. Todays Challenge is Av, aperture priority, which is the black sheep in my herd of photographical knowledge, a real problem.
Av is quite complicated in that we play with blur, bokeh?, and DOF and trying to find the exact point in the photo that we want to be the point of interest. To do this, after a consultation with a shop owner yesterday, the main thing is the focal point, and then the distance from the subject matter and of course the f/stop, ..of course. What I like about this Challenge is that it forces me to do photos in a manner which I do not like but only because I do not understand the procedure and by having to do it will not do anything else but help, and of course help comes from all over including your shots.
If possible I would like to see the settings also, as today we are back in school.
f/4 50 mm focal length
f/5.6
f/22
5:20 AM....back later.zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Took these yesterday afternoon at the creek not far from here. It is a Cross country Ski Center and during the summer months, a day camp for kids..........and here comes this old man with his camera prowling around and eyes were following him. Actually I was glad and later told one of the monitors so. Y'never know, y'know
Shot at 100 mm at f/4.5 1/125 ISO 100
f/9 1/40 ISO 100 at 100 mm
f/14 1/40, ISO 100 at 100mm
f/22 1/15 ISO 100 at 100 mm

I'm with you exactly,Jim. I don't want to be bothered with the nuts and bolts but I'm sure some of my photos would come out much better- IF I better understood how the camera works. This is true especially with a subject that happens spontaneously. . Like a once in a life time happening. That's where lack of functional knowledge really takes it's toll!
view of the lay of the land from a winery in Wallingford,Ct.-can't tell you settings-cause I don't really know
Those daisys were huge
Grapes beginning to mature
inside looking out
f5.6, shutter 1/250, ISO 100, focal length using a 300 lens- 300 mm and a center single dot focus point
And secondly a photo yesterday of a favorite fence post
f 4.5, shutter 1/125 ISO 100, focal length 55mm
I think I will take 2camers with me today, one set at f 4.5 and the other set in the higher f -stops like maybe 19 or 20.
This is a very useful, fun challenge. I love creating the bokeh effect. It works great with flowers and butterflies.
f5.6, shutter 1/250, ISO 100, focal length using a 300 lens- 300 mma butterfly on a brown eyed Susan wildflower
f 4.5, shutter 1/125 ISO 100, focal length 55mm
