For those of you who enjoy vintage US autos, you need to take a trip to Havana and gaze at the hundreds kept alive and running. They even fabricate parts since they can not purchase thru US

The first one possibly a Cad - not sure of year or make. Second one - possibly a Buick?
The third one down (yellow) looks like an old DeSoto. Yes - now I see it posted on the windshield and it's a 55. Good looking for it's age.
Very nice to see these old cars. I can't remember when I last saw an old DeSoto. Approximately when did DeSoto go belly up - out of business?

Great photos. Thanks.
Chrysler made De Sotos. The De Soto marque was officially dropped 30 November 1960

Because petrol (gas) is at such a premium in cuba most of these lovely looking cars are driven by little and underpowered jap engines.

Was not aware that they put small engines in these old American cars. My experience was that they kept them running with locally fabricated parts. Most of the new cars are Asian if you can afford one, plenty of old junky Russian cars are limping by, but my host family travelled with a tool kit to rebuild the carb on the road side while we drove a rented Asian car. They are a great people, hope one day they will allow us to travel legally
