post processing

What is a good processing software for a mac? I have used photoshop on a previous computer and found it very complex. I don't do a lot of post processing but would like to bring certain areas out of shadow mainly. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles. The iphoto on the mac does almost everything I need except isolate specific areas to work with. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Lightroom is more intense than iPhoto, but you can organize your photos with it and it does a great job in processing if you don't need the full PhotoShop. Also, Aperture is the pro version of iPhoto. I find Lightroom easier to use and understand and I'm on a Mac too.

You're welcome. LR can be a bit overwhelming in the beginning, but there are lots of tutorials on the web that will help. There are a lot of good improvements in the new LR 5 and you can get it as a boxed copy and don't have to go through the new Adobe CC/subscription based program.

I just downloaded the 30 day trial of PSE11 last night. I'll let the forum know what I think of it.

You might look at Pixelmator for the Mac.

It is not expensive and seem very basic and for $15 it is amazing with it will do. For an additional $5 there is a video showing how to use all the functions.

I have been testing it out on my Mac recently, especially since I have just changed OS.

I use LR5 on my iMac, love it. Just updated to 5 from LR#, download the free trial and give it a try.

If you want to isolate a certain area just make a selection of it then make your adjustments.
