Can anyone tell me why all of my filters, photo effects , frames, and actions are all gone from pse10 after installing cs 6? How do I get them back ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Ellen

I don't have CS6 so probably I'm talking baloney. I assume the missing items are all plug-ins, have they "transferred their allegiance" from PSE10 to CS6?

When you downloaded them, did you save prior to installing them? If so they will probably be on your disc somewhere and can be reinstalled.

Don't know how to help otherwise.

The items that are missing are the items that come with the program . The actions I can re down load.

If they came with PSE10, is there a problem with reinstalling?

I have PSE9,PSE11, PS7 and CS2 installed. All the filters have a suffix of 8BF

My first try at finding out what happened and if they still exist would be (assuming Win 7) :

Start button
In the Search box type *.8BF (do not hit the Enter or return key)
You should get a few files showing up but some or all of these will belong to CS6.

Look for one of them that you can recall as being from Elements (I always think of Solarize.8BF or Tile.8BF, Right click on this and select "Open File Location"
The window that opens will say (hopefully) "Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements. . . ) as part of the title. If it mentions CS6 then either that filter rightfully belongs to CS6 or it has been moved during the installation.
If the window is CS6 then start again, choose a different filter - and do the same thing again.

If you cannot find the correct window, its probably gone and a re-install is needed. If you do find the window, then we need to work out how to make them work again.

Ellen, delete the MediaDatabase.db3 file to "force" PSE to rebuild it.

If you are using Windows, you need to have your folder options set up so that the hidden files will be visible. The path you need to navigate is a hidden one.

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/show-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-vista/

First, make sure PSE is closed. Then, navigate the path for your version of Windows and delete the MediaDatabase.db3 file.

Windows XP:
C:\ Documents and Settings\ All Users\ Application Data\ Adobe\Photoshop Elements\ 10.0\ Locale\ en_us (or your locale)\ MediaDatabase.db3

Windows Vista, 7, and 8:
C:\ ProgramData\ Adobe\ Photoshop Elements\ 10.0\ Locale\ en_us (or your locale)\ MediaDatabase.db3

Next, open PSE and wait for the program to rebuild this database.

If you are a Mac user, follow the path below:

Macintosh HD\Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale>en_us (or your locale)\MediaDatabase.db3

That's the first thing I did three times and rebooted! Called adobe they were useless . I tried deleting media data one more time and it worked!! So thank you for suggesting it again, or I might not have tried it a 4 th time .
Don't know why it didn't work first three times .
