This is St Mary's Church in Horden, County Durham. Known as The Miners' Cathedral, it celebrated its 100th year a few days ago. Horden was once the home of the largest coal mine in Europe and the entire village was built around servicing the vast pithead.
Now the mines are long gone but the legacy of those times lives on. This beautiful church is a reminder of the area's mining history and is still a vibrant part of the community.

St Mary's Church Panorama
Beautifully rendered. very painterly. I love stained glass windows and always amazes me the beautiful decorations/ ornamentation that parishoners would put into their churches, even when life was hard.

Very nice images. The panorama looks great in the download.
Thanks to all for looking and commenting.
Although High Anglican, there is little in the way of ornate decoration in the church and, oddly, none of the windows are stained glass. I'm going to be shooting a pano inside the church soon. I was going to do it last Saturday but the locking bolt on the centre column of my tripod gave up the ghostthe thread got stripped. It does annoy me that a moderately expensive carbon-fibre tripod skimps when it comes to this particular fitting. Who on earth specified using a mild steel bolt when it clearly should have been hardened steel?
