A beautiful photograph, well focussed and the exposure is quite good for a backlit subject.

Just a few suggestions:

1. Crop so that there is a little room in front of the bird to move into.
2. Photo would have been a little better if the Swan was swimming more towards you. Sometimes, patience will reward you. Also, if possible a little lower vantage point would put you nearer eye level with the Swan.
3. Check both your color and luminence noise reduction settings. There appears to be a little of both visible when you download. What ISO did you shoot at?
By the way, your Macro work is superb!

Lastly, yes, Swans can be very agressive, even with humans. In North America, Mute Swans are an exotic escapee from municipal parks, estates, ponds etc. They were imported to the US from Europe in the last half of the 19th century. The numbers of feral swans is increasing and they are more and more becoming pests as they displace native birds from their preferred habitat.

Thank you for the comment on my macro work. It took much guidance from those better than I to get me to this point (also about 4,000 shots in 3 months). I may have to try my EF-S zoom lens for better framing of birds. (But I love my 100)

This was the kind of response I was looking for. I agree with you on all points. I had not run any noise cancelling, so that is something I have to start. I shot it at f5, iso 400.
I will get more chances at this swan, she has 2 cygnets and has started to bring them and her mate to my friends house. I shot several that would have fit your criteria but i was running into a problem with the feathers being burned out. This was the only shot where that wasn't significant.
