Ten Wonders of the Bible:

“First(ly), its unique authorship, as it was written over a 1,600-year time span, by some forty authors from every walk of life, in different locations, and in different languages.

“Second its complete unity of thought and teaching, presenting only one view of God, one view of sin, one method of salvation, and one program for the ages.

“Third is its central theme, the Lord Jesus Christ. The OT points to Him, the Gospels present Him, and the Epistles propagate Him.

“Fourth, it was written in superior languages. Hebrew is a pictorial, personal language that graphically recorded God’s might acts. Aramaic was the local language of Palestine and served to link the OT and NT through the Lord Jesus and His apostles. The exactness of the Greek then precisely expressed the theological truths of the NT.

“Fifth, it is unmatched in sale and circulation, passing the two-billion-copies-in-print mark long ago, and is still selling twenty-five million copies a year.

“Sixth, its prophetic accuracy is astounding, with many ancient prophecies fulfilled to the letter, such as: the returning of the Jews to their own land (Ezek. 36) the utter destruction of Tyre and that it would never again be inhabited or rebuilt.(Ezek. 26), and of course the many Messianic prophecies fulfilled by Jesus.

“Seventh, its archeological authentication is equally astonishing; in response to the denial of the biblical record by critics, the existence of many biblical cities has been proved by the archeologist’s spade, such as : Ur of the Chaldees, Medgiddo, and Jericho.

“Eighth, its scientific accuracy is also without flaw, providing us the absolutely accurate facts about Creation, astronomy, and even diet.

“Ninth, its agelessness – it is as up-to-date now as when it was penned.

“Tenth, its indestructibility is established by the thousands of manuscripts that have survived the raves of time and that its truth has survived the violence of both direct attack (physical destruction) and critical attack (historical and textual challenge).

Oh, the wonders of God’s Word!”1

Points 3,4 and 6 seem to be in doubt by those pesky Jews who do not believe in Jesus. It seems that Mary did not come from the house of David! Minor point but really central to the Messiah myth.

Point 8 does not hold up to scrutiny. Earth made in 7 days!
Nor does the time line hold up. Evidence seems to point out that the earth is older than the biblical record.

Also, the flood?
Virgin birth?
Jesus coming back from the dead.
Creation story.

Selective analysis of the Bible is often given by those of little faith and a need to justify their beliefs.

Ten Wonders of the Bible: br br “First(ly), its u... (show quote)

I am sure most readers would find there are probably more than "10" wonders in the bible.

But "10" is good round number and happens to equal what some call the "10 Commandments."

I prefer to think of them as the Ten Suggestions. You will find a great video by the late George Carlin on the Commandments.

Originally was it not suggested that death be the penalty for disobeying any of the "10?"

That would Benevolence at work, I guess.

All religions, except perhaps Buddhism, are totalitarian regimes.

Most people world round believe in the religion they were born into.

Here and now, folks in America can actually express non or anti religious sentiments. It wasn't always that way.

Consider the Spanish Inquisition as just one example of intolerance of thought.

There. Now this is my tenth line.

The OT was abrogated by Jesus' teachings. Jesus replaced force with Power- Control with Love. Unfortunately, too many still follow the OT and use Jesus as a figure head. Of course, when one's aim is to control, by whatever means, then the OT is a really good book to follow.

Jesus is in the history and he was a superior mind with a lot of charisma and deep moral values. His teaching is a proof of his power. From there to come back from the death there is a huge polemic subject...And if you follow what it is say he predicated you know if he come back he will be "put in the cross" again...

Yes Mary was in the family line of David, form his son Nathan. Solomon from who Joseph descended, was in the royal branch of Davids line.

To understand the significance of this, you have to study Jewish family descendant relationships. Which were quite! different from our own. An adopted son, was recognized as a mans legal heir. Even if later he had sons of his own, the adopted son was still considered first; and heir to all.

Mary whose genealogy through the flesh, tracks all the way back to Adam. Making Jesus the son of man, by the flesh. Joseph's genealogy only extending back to David, after the royal line. Makes Jesus legal heir to all that was Joseph's, David's throne.

Although Joseph did not occupy the throne of Israel, by decent he should have. Roman occupied Israel, suffered under a Roman appointed puppet king. But Joseph was the real heir to David's throne. Making Jesus legally!, King of the Jews. And the eternal occupant, of the throne of David.

Pesky Jews, What a nice thing to say. Well those pesky Christians just cant keep there views to themselves. They just have to keep reinforcing their beliefs. The Bible was written by men, some of it is historically true but some of it is just silly stories.

As soon as you say "Well those pesky Christians just can't keep their views to themselves." you are doing the same thing. :hunf:

You are doing the same thing posting your opinion and not keeping it to yourself.

I did not do the original post using a derogatory label. These attitudes are archaic and they show a complete lack of understanding and compassion. Sometimes it takes a mirror to enlighten.
