Has any one photographed a Cheetah Run?

What lens and setting have you found to be most beneficial for filming this extremely fast moving animal.

A National Geographic team of photographers did a "Cheetah Run" with some semi wild Cheetahs and posted all the info on the web a short while ago. If you Bing Nat Geo Cheetah run you should get the info. It may be what you are looking for.

Cheers

I went to the Safari Park in Southern California and tried to shoot the “Cheetah Run”. The first thing is get there early to get a good spot with room to pan the course. They run the cheetah’s companion dog first. If it’s not too hot you will get 2 chances(about six seconds each), as they run both directions. Use your fastest lens with a fast shutter speed. I shot with a Nikon D7000 with a Sigma 150-500 at ISO 400. Most of my images are too blurred or half in the frame. Here are a few of the better ones.

Nice shots. I can imagine how difficult it would be to keep them in the viewfinder.

I videotaped the Cheetah Run at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park several years ago before it opened to the public. Zoo Members were invited in for a sneak preview.
