She wanted photos...

Image 2-4 are nice. The first one is a perfect example of why we want to BEG ladies not to wear sleeveless tops. That arm is brighter and has more area than her face. Not your fault, but when it comes to getting women to be our models, the sleeveless stuff can ruin an otherwise great image. Th exception can be full length images of thin women in gowns. Even there we need to be carful to not shoot into a bare shoulder. Yes, there are some other exceptions, but not many.
Patrick, what is not appealing is the fact that her finger nails are very short, and the grip she is applying to the post has flattened her fingers creating an undesirable quality to the photo.

Thanks Cliff, I will try harder to discourage the sleeveless tops.

Thank you sir. I had not even noticed the finger flattening from the pressure she was applying. I will be more careful to watch for that in the future. Although not much I can do with the length of her nails.
In images 1 and 3 I am not sure where your focal point was. The face seems a bit out of focus.
Your close ups in B&W are superior to the color shots.
I think the reason why is because of the arms.
IMO Portraits of people with a lot more than the face and shoulders tend to be diluted.
I am not the biggest fan of B&W, but your #4 picture is superb. All of them are really nice, thanks for posting.

My first jump into this section of the UHH, and I already learned a lot, the exposed upper arm comment is right on target as it made me look more closely at the rest of the model and saw that she is a larger woman, which I may not have noticed if the upper arms were covered, and the grip, which makes her finger tips expand to look like one of those tree climbing frogs fingers was also a comment I hope to remember when I do my own shooting. Also, I went back with a more critical eye and noticed in the first photo, the fingers in the interlocking hand clasp, it looks like she has more than the normal amount of fingers and thumbs. I hope I will get some equally useful and thought provoking comments when I post some of my own work. Thanks for posting.
Yes my skills have improved greatly from the comments & advice I get here like these. these are mistakes I rarely repeat. I treat every shoot as a lesson and every critique as a learning tool. Love this site.

All great shots. I liked the two black and whites the best. Thanks for sharing.
