this photo was taken in the northern territories of australia, on a caravan park we where staying on, the Goshawk had killed the Corella in flight and had brought it down and eaten some of its breast.
what we had to do was get the dead bird away from the Goshawk, and remove it from among the caravaners, as otherwise we would have been over run with brown ants;
this for me is my best bird photo, and i think always will be,
camera was a little point and shoot 5mp H/P and i was only about 6ft away for this shot, for me its the eyes on the Goshawk that make the photo

Great shot, especially for a P&S. the goshawk must be very used to people to allow you to get so close. :thumbup: :thumbup:
What a fabulous shot of a beautiful bird! I've never seen one like it.
You did a fantastic job!

thanks for the reply Dook, but as far as the Goshawk being used to people,you are way out, this is a hunter, with its catch, and no way was it going to surrender it, the first shot i got was as i ran out of my van with the camera on full zoom, 3x, then i got gradually closer, and even after i got the shot you saw, i got even closer, and the only way I could get him away from his prey, was to get my 50kilo rotte x german shepard from the van, and it wasn't until he was ten ft or so from him that he took off. For me it was a terrific
experience, with a good photo as a keep sake,
almost felt like David Attenborough

thanks for your reply, yes I was at the right place,at the right time, i have since got some good bird photos, but nothing like this one, i am now a DSLR user but to be honest, i am sure i couldnt get a better shot now than i did with my H/P5mg 3x zoom , and the photo was taken real quick, thanks again, where ever you are
