An interview with NormPR

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
After working at the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge Project and carrying a little Kodak on my tool belt, I retired and decided I liked photography. That was in 2010 and started looking for a decent camera, (wish I knew this site was here), bought a Canon T2i kit and it has been a great camera, and am still using it.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
After purchasing the kit, I had no idea what to do with it. Found a DSLR six week course at my local community center and that got me to understand the general workings of my camera.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I like Moon and night photography and was out taking photos of the 2012 Super moon, this years was clouded out. I was taking pictures near the airport and as I was setting up for my next shot, I saw the plane coming and just snapped, I thought it would not come out because the camera was still shaking on my shaky tripod.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I was using the Canon T2i with a Tamron 18/270 PZD lens with a shaky tripod, since replaced.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
No, this was just a chance shot.

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
I never thought about it, I do like tinkering and doing unnecessary things to my car.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
No, the only pictures I share are with my family an this site. I only have a handful of really good pictures, most are experiments for me but am glad to share with the Hog.

An interview with Old Redeye

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I started studying photography with the School of Modern Photography in 1966. I was stationed in Germany in the Army and had access to a darkroom. I wanted to capture my experiences in Europe.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
As stated, I studied through the School of Modern Photography. I'm currently enrolled in a Photoshop class with New York Institute of Photography.
I mostly do photojournalism, but I also do portraiture (environmental and studio) and events.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I saw on the news that we were going to have a "super moon". I had read on UHH about settings for moon photos and decided to try it out.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I used a Canon Rebel T1i with a 250mm lens on a tripod.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
I plan to experiment some more, but I'm not sure what I'll do differently. I'm ecstatic that the image was so well-received!

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
Wish that I could do photography!!!

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work

An interview with wilikioti

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
65 years. Started with an Ansco Shur-Shot when I was 9 years old.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
Mail courses. New York Institute of Photography 1962. Famous Photographers course 1965.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I wanted a photograph of a "super moon."

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 7-300MM lens and a Kenko 1.4 tele-extender mounted on a Bogen 3021 Pro tripod.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
No.

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
I am retired so photography and graphic arts is about all I can do now.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
No. I once had pictures on Shutterfly but was worried about copyrights. My main expertise in my career was micrographics but worked for a printing company that required a lot of photographs. I took photos for advertising, sales brochures, technical illustrations, horse shows, etc.

I am honored that you liked my picture.

An interview with imagebyTerri

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
My grandfather worked for Kodak and he supplied me with my first camera at age 5 (!) supplying me with film and then processing it for me. I always shot landscapes, pretty flowers, the dam, trees, clouds, etc. I look back on them now and think, whoa! that's crazy!

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
No, I just mess around with settings and join forums like this, along with flickr, to learn more. I mostly do landscape.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I love being on the coast and I suppose my timing was right!

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I currently have a Canon 550D as my 7D was stolen (arghh). I used a Canon 10-22mm with a tripod.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
I don't think so!

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do? Something creative like painting on canvas.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
Yes, I have a flickr page:

They are all great, but the coastal moon is a 10! Very nice indeed.
