I just got done with another episode of live chat with Adobe. There is a Student edition of CC, but you get the WHOLE thing for 29.95. I'm still flogging the dead horse issue and trying to upgrade my CS5 student edition, but that ain't gonna happen. So for those of us with student editions, we pay $20 a month for Photoshop, or $30 for the whole enchilada. (which will include Lightroom 5, by the way. I guess I must accept the things I cannot change!
I guess that I am up shit's creek without a paddle. Even though I have just about every Adobe program they have to offer now, I could have never gotten these programs without the help of my wife's work. Now that Adobe is going to the cloud, I am sure that her work place is not going to include me in their licensing. Right now, I can't even afford to pay attention.
Just go to Corel.com and get PaintShopPro x5
There has been a recent sales of the Ultimate version for under $60!
Is this going to affect all Adobe products? Including perhaps Photoshop elements.

From what I have heard (and I have READ A TON ABOUT IT!) PSE will still be offered as a stand alone program. I do not use PSE. I went with the Master Collection of CS6 ($1800) much to my demise a year ago. Lightroom 5 will also be sold as a stand alone. However, there are certain features (I am not sure of exactly which ones) the will only be offered only in the CC editions. Also, any CS features or any updates for that matter will always be offered to CC first. If you have the S&T edition of LR or CS4+ your creative cloud membership should only be $9.95 for the first year and then $29.99 for subsequent years unless Adobe gets greedy again and ups that price. If you have LR3 and up, the upgrade price is $79.95 no matter if it is a S&T edition. That price is for any current user with a registered copy of any past LR editions. Just an FYI...there are absolutely no differences in the S&T editions over the full blown editions except for licensing concerns and upgrades. The content and abilities of the programs were exactly the same. The only difference was that once you purchase the S&T editions, if you decided to upgrade in the future, you had to buy the newest edition. There was never an "Upgrade" available for any S&T editions.
I just upgraded to LR5 as a standalone for the $79,99. Yes, it was well worth it to me. The radial filter and the new spot healing brush made the difference to me.

I doubt it for Elements since that program is typically used by the less technically sophisticated and sometimes cheap user. That's not to imply that someone is not sophisticated but only that they may not be willing or able to spend the big bucks for the higher end applications and Adobe probably recognizes that.

Those two and the "F" button have me hooked.
If you combine LR, Photoshop Elements and Premier Elements, there is very little you can't do! And, the total price is about $250. Compared to cameras, lenses, computers, what film with processing used to cost and the gas to get where you shoot, it is an incredible bargain.

On two different sessions with Adobe, I was told point blank that one CAN NOT upgrade any S&T to the CC. You can subscribe to the ENTIRE lot in S&T for 29.95.

It would seem that different people are getting different answers. I have no idea why they told you that. Everywhere I read, there is is a available discount for S&T ($29.99) and $79.99 upgrade for LR if you have ANY version of LR. If I have given you inaccurate information, I apologize. This is the information I was given.
