I have a problem when taking pictures of my dogs as two of them are older and have cataracts. Not only do their eyes reflect the normal yellowish light but using a flash makes those with cataracts look like devil dogs from he**.
Tonight I got out my D5100 and started playing with the various settings. Didn't really think there was enough light but set it for 'no flash auto' and took some shots. Was pleasantly surprised with the results - no devil eye and with a bit of pp tweaking of color balance they look pretty good.
C&C welcomed and appreciated.
Brandi, my oldest girl (maybe 12-ish, she's a rescue) - she's a Shepherd/Greyhound cross according to my vet - in her favorite pose ... "her" couch.
Kona, another older rescue (American Akita/Black Lab cross again according to the vet) trying to look intelligent (she was in her normal Black Lab mode, you know simple, uncomplicated and adorable)
Steve, the 3.5 year old purebred Rottweiler I'm fostering for a friend ... on guard to keep us all safe from ninja squirrels and bands of marauding bunnies ...

I like all three. I can not say what is good or bad. I have no clue, I just think they are great looking to me. But I am blind in one eye and can not see out of the other one. LOL
Thanks, Camshy ... appreciate it.
beautiful looking puppies all of them

Nice family pictures, although I thought one was a bear. :-D
jerry when Kona (the Akita/Lab) comes out of her 'den' underneath a cedar tree near the deck she looks a lot like a bear cub. The Akita, if you don't already know, is a very primitive dog - according to my vet and the research I've done they are only a chromosome or two away from their cousin the wolf. Deep set eyes for protection, heavy stocky body that is tremendously strong and I've actually seen Kona bite through a bone - the strength in her jaws is incredible. Very protective and loving but always on alert to ensure the safety of their humans. Cosmic puppy IMO ... !

Interesting. I have two pugs and a mini dachshund who are also alert and protective, but their protection would go only so far. :D
What wonderful children! Kona looks like a bear! I think you did great for the light you had. Sharpen the first two up a tad and they will be fine. Rotty is great.
Thanks Jerry and Amy, appreciate the comments.
Love all your photo's-rescue dogs sure do appreciate the ones who give them a chance

Thanks. Don't know what I'd do without 'em ... other than sleep in past 5:30 am on Sundays, not have to vacuum 3x a week to get the dog hair gone, walk them outside in the rain (here from September to May usually) ... :)
Seriously, I've always had rescue dogs and I've always thought that they somehow know they've been rescued and are very grateful.
Tama is a rescue dog too-he was left outside the humane society in 20 degrees windchill factor. He had three types of worms, mites and two pellets in his neck. He has come along way & has had a good life.
You are very kind to take in three dogs ( I am sure others) and it is wonderful to see them; in their age enjoying the life you are giving them. Keep taking your photos
Last snow storm
Tama looks like a sweetie ... thanks for sharing.

Kona's a sweetie most of the time - but if someone comes onto the property who isn't supposed to be here or whom she doesn't know she goes into full Akita mode. At that point even I am careful around her. Very alpha, very protective - the Akita is per my vet only a chromosome or two away from the wolf ... and seeing her upset with her hair on end from tip of her tail to her head I can well believe it.
