Adobe reported better-than-expected second quarter profits. Total cloud subscriptions, predicted by Adobe to be 600,000 at this time, actually is 700,000.

Adobe has announced that their Cloud subscriptions had a net increase of 221,000, versus a projected increase of 185,000, for the quarter.

Of course, investors and business analysts love a recurring income model, so it's no surprise that Adobe's stock price has gone up 21% this year, versus 14% for the S&P 500.

Folks, with Microsoft's Azure picking up momentum and Adobe's Creative Cloud where it is, I think you're seeing where software is going.

I can see where software is going and if we have to pay for every software every month, we would be looking at very expensive bills and we would have to really choose what we need and not want. It will not be sustainable for many people. For the ordinary user, the computer will be to expensive to use. I would be going to the library a whole lot more. they may have a lot of users now, but how long will this be sustainable? Only time will tell.

All of life is about priorities. I don't smoke, drink coffee, or go to Starbucks. I do have a beer a day, and I go out to eat twice a week. I do not have a smartypants phone. Thus I have a lot of money to spend on things in my life that I want that others might not. The best digital photo editing software is one of those things (although I also have Lightroom 4, PaintShop Pro X6, and Photo-Paint X6).

That may be true, but 1t $50.00 a month just for one software, how about the rest, are we in a position for many to pay for software that in the future might cost us more than $200.00 to use? If you consider all the companies out there who will want their fair share of the pot that will be a lot of $50.00's they will ask us ordinary mortals to pay. The prices will have to come down or at least make it easier for us to afford the future.

For the $50, you can have it all - the whole Creative Cloud. Here's what you get for $50/mo. How could anyone resist? :D

$50 a month is for the whole suite of Adobe applications. I doubt that anyone except the biggest graphic design firm in the world needs every piece of software that Adobe has in its lockers.

All I need right now is Photoshop CC. It costs me $19.99 a month. Since I always upgraded, $19.99 a month is actually less expensive than buying a version and then buying the upgrade every 15-18 months.

Yes, anyone can have it all as long as he/she pays his/her monthly "rent" of $50. What will happen if you cancel your subscription? Or skip a couple of payments? No payment, no access, no have it all.

Quote:
Once you cancel your subscription, the product installed on your system would work fine for the consecutive 30 days as a trial version. Once those 30 days are up , your files and softwares would still be there but the software would then be giving you a pop up window requesting you to purchase the subscription . Without doing that , the product wouldnt work .

Imagine how much time you would have to spend studying all those programs to be able to use them proficiently.

The point being, give into one, and soon you will be paying monthly fees for all your software, not just a mere $50 to Adobe. I personally am up over $2,500 per year in software subscriptions. (without Adobe)

I didn't think there were that many subscriptions available.

My 3 biggest, and it's per seat...Autocad $495 Per year, Chief Architect,$495 per year. Home Tech Advantage, (Construction Estimating)$495 per year. Then I have smaller ones from $95.00- 195.00 per year, and this isn't including the $29.95- $49.95 per year ones such as... updates/Upgrades, Snagit, Eset Secuity, SketchUp, Sketch Book Pro, LR,..again, without the now defunct $500.00 per year Adobe Web Suite.
I think you get my point...I'm sure I missed a few. Oh yes, the monthly ones, Kelby, $19.95 per mo. Lynda.com $25.00 per month.

Come on you guys. Please stop posting incorrect information about the cost of the Cloud subscription. Go to the Adobe web site and check it out yourself. Russelray is correct - Photoshop CC is only $19.99/mo with a 1 year subscription. It's $29.99/mo if you want to pay month to month and stop any time and then start back up any time. Adobe has other offers as well that include the whole CC suite of programs. They also have a special offer deal for $9.99/mo for the first year, then $19.99/mo thereafter offer for Photoshop CC if you are a current owner of CS6.

I don't really like it any more than most of you and have not subscribed, but please get the facts straight and stop frightening other members away from something that they may be able to afford. Telling them it's $50/mo when it's really $20/mo is wrong. How many of you really need the whole suite of programs?

So you seem to be proof that Adobe isn't the first company to go the subscription route as so many people seem to be claiming.

Sounds like quite a few of yours would be tax deductions, too, since I can't see a hobbyist having all that stuff.
