I spotted these at a rest stop somewhere between Florence South Carolina and Atlanta Georgia on I-20. I had never seen so many dragonflies in one place before ... it looked like there were about 20 or 30 flying around a row of bushes. From research on Google, I think they are female "Slaty Skimmer" dragonflies, but I'm not really sure if that's correct.
Very nice - I just happen to love Dragonflies.

Very nice pictures. The particularly striking part is the delicate wing pattern against an out-of-focus background. This is a case where bokeh truly adds to the image

Me too ... definitely one of my favorite subjects to shoot!

Thanks Luis ... this was a rare situation where there were so many of them that I actually had time to play with some settings to try to accentuate the bokeh ... F11 at 1/80s seemed to work pretty well in this case.
btw ... I cheked out your Fractal galleries ... very nice, much more interesting that a lot of what is posted on the web!
