need to know what setting to do weddings and showers
Even weddings are similar, there are no "fixed" settings for it, because all weddings are different. You have to go by what you find, weather situation, indoor lighting (what's there and what is useable is up to you). Weddings can be very demanding, you need to be a good lacation shooter, be good at portraiture, architechtuaral photography, need to know how to best implement your flashlights, be creative and so on and on..........I think foremost, you need good people skills!

Hi Mike or is it Cindy? To answer your question it would take me about a month to type and about 2 weeks for you to read.:):) I would say your best bet is to hang around here and show us some of your stuff. And let us get you started in the right direction. The other thing to do if you are really wanting to do weddings, is find a pro that will let you hang around him?her and learn the ropes. It is not an easy gig tho.

Mike or Cindy. Welcome to the hog. I will echo Erv totally. Ask more questions, specific ones. Also, if you can, attend a few weddings in your area, and just shoot. Trial and error. Study your results and make sure you know the camera settings as you study your results. People skills are an absolute. Oh, and always make sure your equipment is perfect, have battery backups, and even a backup camera. Remember, you only have one chance to photograph the wedding. If you are not sure, apprentice yourself to a photographer. Also, have this in the back of your mind at all times....if you somehow "botch" a job, you can be sued. So study everything you can lay your hands on and then practice.......

The knife and spoon go on the right side of the plate, the forks go on the left side- OH, you want camera settings. Never mind.

Mike - - not meaning to be blunt - -but - - if you have to ask, you're not ready to do weddings.
Weddings can be among THE most brutal and challenging of all photo shoots for a commercial photographer.
IMHO - - once you've a couple years experience under your belt, several $K worth of L quality glass in your kit, and the t3i is your back-up camera - - -
Hey - - don't beat me up - - just sayin'

Buy and read all 4 of Scott Kelby's Digital Photography books. His approach in writing the book is as if you and he are out taking pictures together and he walks you through all types of situations - including weddings.
I bought and "devoured" all 4 - learned a whole lot of good stuff and anchored it in my brain by practicing.
