I'm not happy with my Photive brand second battery for the SX50. Wondering what batteries you SX50 users have purchased? Thanks much.

I bought two batteries on ebay (from Hong Kong), along with adapter ring, CPL, & hood. There is no brand name on the batteries. The only markings are FOR CAN NB-10L, 7.4v, 1100mAh, 8.14WH, Made in Japan. They seem to last as long as the original, which is not real long. I think the electric zoom zaps a lot of power. Earl.

Thanks. I did get over 380 shots on the Canon battery first time out (after overnight charge).

Literally, a pair of no-name batteries - eBay via Hong Kong, for $12.95 delivered. I hope I didn't overpay. :D

Mine was bundled with the Canon one, but also came with a second one marked with "Batteries by Joe". . . . Just kidding... some kind of noname one.

The first charge on both of them didn't last very long, they have both improved since then.

I don't suppose there is a way to get the shutter count from the metadata. I just let the camera keep a continuous count.

I had no idea that "no name" was so popular! Thanks all. Jerry - I'll let you know if I figure it out. What number are you up to?

Number? Oh, exposures. I don't know off hand. I'll have to check.

I ended up buying 5 cuz I was bidding on several and ended up getting them all!! Overkill, but I will never be without a fully charged battery!! 2 are Photive, 2 are No-Name, and one is Power2000.
Canon = 920mah
Photive = 1200mah
Power2000 = 1200mah
NoName = 1400mah

Can't tell for sure, but they all seem to get 300-400 shots unless I am using the LCD for a lot of reviewing or aiming without snapping. I think they all do quite well, Considering the extras all cost less that $15 each incl shipping.

Thanks for the link. I looked at a battery for my Nikon AW100. It comes in a nice glossy white box. At the bottom, it says, "capture the spot." Maybe they meant to say "spot." The French below it is better, "capturez l'instant." The seller is located on Broadway in NYC. I guess their English isn't too good, either.

I have used Opteka as backup batteries for both a Canon T2i and now my Canon 7D - they seem to be the equal of the Canon OEM. One suggestion, though - read the directions coming with Opteka - it says, specifically, to allow the Opteka's inital charging process to be longer than the normal charging time. Opteka has its own website opteka.com or they are easily available on ebay. I also use other Opteka products - haven't had any issues with this company.
