Not only did my upgrade to Lightroom 5 cost me $80.00, but I find it will not work until I upgrade my operating system to Windows 8 which will cost another $120.00 !
Adobe could have made that clear on their web site...
After all,I'm a photographer , not a computer weenie !

LR5 works just fine on my Windows 7 OS PC with 8GB of RAM.

In the system requirements section of their website, they specify Windows 7 with Service pack 1 or Windows 8.

So if I'm a 30 year IT professional I'm "a computer weenie"?
I hope you never need to get your computer fixed.

Edmund,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I don't intend for this to sound mean or snarky, but checking the system requirements should always be part of your action list before buying or installing any piece of software. It's unfortunate that this lesson is coming to you in such a hard (and expensive!) fashion, but sometimes the best learned lessons come with a price. Have you tried talking to someone at Adobe about a refund? Sometimes they can be quite reasonable.

Yes I see Now... My mistake was, I assumed that since my upgrades from LR throught LR4 worked fine, LR5 would be the same. Yes I know what they say about assuning anything...

Edmund... I'm curious to know what sort if computer setup you have that's causing you problems with LR5. Your note says you upgraded from LR4 which requires(ed) Microsoft Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 or Windows 7 with Service Pack 1. If LR4 worked OK, it's not clear why LR5 won't work unless, of course, you are running Windows Vista which does not support LR5

I too, needed to make changes to my computer to accommodate LR 5. I was running Windows Vista, and when I upgraded LR to 5, I preceded that with an upgrade to Windows 7. It's the price we pay for progress.
