Who says we in Seattle cannot grow cacti outside that usually live in the high desert?! We found this little cactus pulled out of the ground by the side of the road in Zion National Park seven years ago. I put it in a ziplock, took it home to plant in a pot and now it's going to produce at least five flowers! It only produced one other bloom four years ago.
Blooms after seven years!
Pollinated flowers means cactus pears! You may be in for a sweet treat.
Very pretty. Congratulations on saving the plant and giving it a new home.
I though Zion was. National Park....No removal of anything there...
Beautiful flowers for sure....you take a blowmtorch tomremove the spines, doesnt seem to hurt the plant....Check with other sources to make sure the best way.
Why would I want to remove the spines? This way the cactus is left alone.

If everyone took something from a national park, there wouldn't be anything left to look at. Should have just replanted it where it was.
