What are the best months for photography in Ireland and UK? We are planning a trip and two of us are huge shutter bugs!

Between July 31 and August 2 :D :D :-D
Seriously you can get good weather anytime between June and early October and you can get bad weather anytime in there as well. They saying goes, "It could be a great country if they put a roof over it". Don't go expecting good weather but be pleasantly surprised when you get it. Enjoy the "Craic" (enjoyable conversation), a pint, the scenery and hospitality. Various weather patterns make for various photo opportunities. A very fast (1.4, 1.8) 35 or 50 is perfect for inside dimly lit pubs. Otherwise 18-270 or 18-300 or 28-300 make perfect walk around lenses. Throw in a wide angle like 11-16 on a crop sensor an I think you've got it covered. Been there many times, still carry a valid Irish passport. Have a blast, it's required. :-D
I live in Devon. Great place to visit, Dartmoor to the West Exmoor to the East and miles of interesting coastline, especially in North Devon. Can't guarantee any month for good weather though, very unpredictable, although it sometimes makes for some interesting landscapes. I think Ireland has even more rain than we do.

Welcome aboard Lagace, don't know if you saw, but greymule sent some fantastic shots of Ireland one or two weeks back. You just have to be lucky as far as weather goes.
You are too late, we had a dry day last Tuesday.

I lived there for 40+ years before moving to USA but always believed late September through November the best time for photography. Less chance of rain and less tourists - less crowded (kids back in school) but colder. But then one doesn't go to the UK for the weather.

April and May. It's spring and the country is covered with flowers, especially in the south. I have just reurned from there and the weather was cool but not excessively and the countryside was beautiful. Also it's the time of the big flower shows if thats of interest to you. Have a great trip.

Well, I think you have a very good chance of getting weather like that at least part of the time there!!

I'd say Autumn, we sometimes get good weather then and there's a good opportunity to catch some great light when the sun is low. There's brilliant colours in our forests then as well.

What is the most likely month in Autumn to catch the color there?
Translation for Lighthouse, "It depends on the type of weather you think you want to get the camera out into."
For Lagace4, "I prefer partly cloudy day with moderate cloud formations. Want the best odds I can get."
