Ok. Today I decided I wanted to update my CS5 to CS6 so to make sure I got what I wanted and not just a student teacher version I went in search of a contact No. for Adobe that dealt with NZ.
This lead me to someone with an Indian accent who turned out to be most helpful. On enquiring where he I was India was the response, expected as so many call centres now go this way.
So I proceeded to ask if there was an update available for CS5 To CS6 and was told this was not available and I would have to join the cloud. to this I stated that this was not the way I wished to go and knew that by searching google various updates were available but needed help making sure I got what I needed.
He then asked me why I did not want to join the cloud so I gave him my list of reasons and told him that I use various photography sites and that many other customers who have been loyal to Adobe for years, had concerns over this matter and many were considering changing to other none Adobe products at great loss to the company.
After re checking what was available I was informed he had found what I was looking for and at a very reasonable price, and it would be delivered in 5 working days.
He also stated that my concerns have been recorded not just typed but the conversation and that it would definitely be passed on to the chiefs along with my contact details and that I may be contacted directly and maybe even asked to assist with this matter.
I hope others contact them direct and are stubborn enough to follow through to the same end.
I will let you know if they get in touch.

Good for you! I, too, tell Adobe in every questionnaire they send me as an owner of CS6 that I do not want, yet, to be subsumed into the cloud.

Ok. Today I decided I wanted to update my CS5 to C... (show quote)

In the US the upgrade from PS CS5 to CS6 is only available through Adobe and is difficult to find on their site being hidden in the flyout under the link to buy the full version of PS CS6.

Based on their diminishing profit statement and the torches and pitchforks of disgruntled users at their door I'm thinking their CC pricing will be revised.

Some have said that CC will prevent piracy but even Adobe admits that it it will not make a difference.

BTW In NZ are you buying the upgrade from Adobe and how much? In the States it is just shy of $200 USD.

I curious as to whether you had any forewarning, such as a recorded message, that you were being recorded. If you did not have prior notice, and especially if there was no beep every 15 seconds (or more often), the recording process was a major violation of Federal Law. Notification after the conversation does not, in any way, mitigate the law.

He's in New Zealand....I didn't know they had a Federal Law similar to the US making it illegal to record a telephone conversation w/o the consent of or informing the other (or at least one of the other) party.

It looks like the pirates already came aboard the CC ship.

I don't like pirating, but considering Adobe's arrogance in this matter, I'm ROFLMAO.

It depends on what state you reside in in the US. In many states there is a "only one party has to know" rule...which basically means that recording is ok if the person recording knows it's happening...lol West Virginia is one of those states...you don't have to inform the other party.

Actually, they are doing well...even now. Their stock price is up as it always is...I think that the pitch fork idea gets blown out of proportion, especially on internet forums like this.

There is some good news about cloud and users being forced into that environment.
Microsoft have reversed a decision on Xbox that forced users to utilize the cloud for registration and game swapping after a tsunami of protest.
I hope that there is a similar change in Adobe.
