Train Caboose, a neat home.........
Spotted this train caboose being used as a home while visiting a small town in Texas a week or so ago.
I think it is neat...they have a TV antenna, deck for sitting outside, basketball goal for the children, washing machine, nice shade trees. The large yard would enable you to pitch a tent to house the Mother-in-Law when she comes for a visit, plenty of room to park a boat or stock trailer too. I noticed that the area under the train caboose is clean, uncluttered, no place for a snake or skunk to hide.
With a little imagination and planning, a train caboose could make you a nice, low cost, low maintence home. Tejaswrangler :)

Interesting. I know a guy who moved a caboose onto his property while his house was being torn down and a new one built. We have a beautiful red caboose sitting on unused tracks near my house. It's part of a never-ending restoration project - tracks and trains.

jerry, only question I have would be how expensive would it be to have the train caboose delivered to your property? I don't think you are going to be able to pull this behind your pickup truck. Thanks for viewing the picture. :)
You could adda"Reefer"car for cold storage and a flatcar to hold the wood for the smoker.

romanticf16, good suggestions. Thanks for viewing the picture. :)
That's a pretty nice setup they have and I like the idea of a tent for the MIL. Perhaps if there was a running creek on the property the tent could be pitched nearby it so she could wash her clothes, have drink and cooking water. What a great idea. Maybe two tin cans connected with a string so she could converse with the family once in a while lol

bigmac115100, for some reason or the other, I suspect that my Post might not be very popular with the Mother-in-Laws of the world. Some of them might not realize that my comment of them living in a tent in the yard was nothing more that giving them the opportunity of enjoying the fresh air outdoors. Thanks for viewing my posted picture. :)

Nice post. Thanks.
The caboose was originally the crews "home away from home".
They had beds, a stove ,sink, storage and an ice box.
They became just an office for the crew and then were replaced with "end of train devices" that would tell the train crew the brake pressure and put a light at the end of the train. The whole crew now rides in the cab.
I miss the old cabooses. :-(

Puglover, thanks for viewing the picture and taking the time to post a response. I took that picture with an older Sony A300 DSLR camera using a vintage (1985) Minolta 28-85mm lens. Tejaswrangler :)
