I am on the emailing list for Lenscratch from which I receive daily posts of photographs and information on the contributing photographer(s) including biographical information and the contributing artist's philosophical approach to the subject. In some respects, in reminds me of Aperture, the magazine.
Check it out for images ranging from what might be considered quite commonplace to some very creative approaches. Lots of environmental portraits and photo stories, if you will. While it states it "offers opportunities for exposure" anytime I have visited, it has been closed to new entries.
