this is the full frame, any cropping would be less than. My concern is the back and more so the loss of part of the left arm...would welcome any comments regarding this.
I do realize the focus is off, missed the eye, got the curl.

I love this shot, just as it is. Any pp would take from her beauty. My opinion only.

I am not certain that you have lost anything by not having the back of her arm. Its a wonderful shot and she is beautiful.

I agree there's not much need for cropping unless you want to come in for a head shot. When faced with these delemnas I use the free Picasa program. The crop feature has a dozen or so preset ratios as well as custom sizing.

Thanks for the info OddJobber...would you be of the opinion that the pic can stand as is? I'm not against cropping, kind of wanted the orange slice for the contrast it provides but not married to it...

Leave the orang slice in!!! It adds a lot to the picture.

I like pictures that have a story, and the orange makes the story. I'd leave it alone.

I feel by showing even a part of the left hand, it has saved the composition, however if it still bothers you, you might think about adding a vignette to cover most of the troubling area. (see below)

My opinion? Maybe a little to heavy on the vignette on the bottom. My eyes go straight to that, and not the cutie.

Right - not a good vignette. I am not sure why when people use vignettes here, they always make them so heavy. Good vignettes just help bring your eye to the subject, not hide mistakes.

Thanks for pitching in here, I think the first part of what you are saying is probably accurate.

Capt....opinion? Of the hundred and some snapshots I took of the get together, this was the only one that I asked for a pose. I took the shot knowing that it was framed as is...only after looking at it on the monitor did I start to doubt myself. A little, still liking it a lot, just not as sure as I thought I was. The reason I'm asking here is for guidance going forward.
