I want an all purpose light lens for travel. How does the tamron work on a full frame sensor??????

I have the canon 24-70L and canon 70-300, but they are heavy for travel.

Thanks

The Tamron 18-270 is made for a DX sensor. However, it may work on some full frame cameras in DX mode.

The Tamron 18-270 f/3.5-6.3, Di II VC PZD is for a cropped sensor camera, it may not mount to your ff. You are right it is a great light weight travel lens. You may want to look at the Tamron AF 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR, VC, Di LD Aspherical lens. It has in its notes, macro, but as we know many lens makes make this claim to attract non-knowing customers. This lens is made for the full frame community. Tamron designates the Di II, for APS-C senors (cropped) and Di for full frame. VC is Tamron speak, for IS. Between the lenses I think they are about the same size and weight.

I own the Tamron 18-270 and am very happy with it. I did have a problem with softness, but sent the lens back with a note of the problem, and they fixed it under warranty. Always buy new from Tamron, they warranty their lenses for 6 years. Also, when I sent my lens in, they calibrated to my 50d specs. It made a world of difference in the IQ of the lens. Depending on your trip, buy your lens early, and practice with it at all the zoom ranges. Enjoy your lens, and trips.

I have the Tamron 18-270 which I use on my Canon Rebel 600D - bought a Canon 5d Mark 111 and as the Tamron will fit the 5D I tried it - it was terrible - serious vignetting throughout the whole focal range. Like shooting in a railway tunnel!!
