Bret, is #1 a severe crop? It looks quite noisy when downloaded. Was your shutter speed high enough? Keep working on technique and these shots will improve!

Not very much of a crop...its allot of things really...over exposed just a bit...OOF some...to slow shutter...and lastly..I grabed my Bower 500mm F8 after leaving it sit for sometime.
