Load the software from the CD. This includes Canon's DPP which is designed for processing the RAW images. Or get PaintShop Pro which DOES support the Canon CR2 format from the SX50.

I know it is obvious but did you do a software update? I know with Adobe products they put out releases all the time to add new camera's.

Wahawk--Aways enjoy your post. I am thinking about purchasing the sx50. I take the card from my 60D, put into my computer and import to Light room. So I understand that this is not possible with the 50. Why is that? I got interested in this camera when Canon announced that it will shoot in raw. Having second thoughts. I am not sure I under stand the CD thing.I like to use light room features to tweek.

You can take the memory card out, same as my xti. You have you purchase memory card separate. It's a very enjoyable camera
