Does anyone have any experience with the Cotton Carrier system for carrying cameras? It looks very interesting to me.

I bought one when I was in New York a couple of years ago and found it to be very very handy while on holiday. The great feature for me was that the camera locks into the holder on your front and needs a simple 90 degree turn to release it. Would be thieves would not be aware of this way to remove a camera and would therefor find it very hard to snatch it. My Cotton Carrier is going on holiday to Europe with me in 5 weeks time for sure. I like also the idea that you can have a long lens fitted to your camara and it hangs down from your chest area and is not swinging around like other types of camera strap

Their chest harness is a very secure system, if you remember to apply the lock mechanism. I watched a photographer with a 5D Mk2 and a 100-400mm lens in one bend down to pick up a dropped lens cap for another photographer, only to have his lens hit his thigh and popped the camera out of the harness. the camera was repaired, but the lens was a total loss from hitting the pavement.
Oh, he still uses the Cotton Carrier today though, but applies the lock religiously!

I have had the Cotten Carrier system for a number of years now with no problems. If the locking fixture is applied properly to the tripod thread on the bottom of the camera and tightened well, then the camera slides into the breastplate at a 90 deg angle and rotates to a lens down position. When properly installed, the camera has to be rotated to be released from the breastplate. I always keep the camera strap around my neck as a backup. A heavy camera and lens can be carried all day with no strain on your neck.

To those of you who have this and use it - is it hot? I'm in sunny Arizona and I sweat even under my camera strap!

My wife has some cervical vertibrae issues and has used the Cotton Carrier for the past several years with a Nikon D7000 and 18 t0 400 lens. Much more comfortable when adjusted properly and completely secure when you use the provided safety straps that attach to the camera toggles. We live in Florida and heat is no more of an issue than anything else you can use.

I tried one but in the California climate that I live in I find to too hot to wear and that I work up a sweat under it.

I have one and love it. I used it on a trip to Acadia National Park and was able to carry 2 cameras w/28-135mm and 100-400mm lenses with ease. If you plan on doing any hiking this is the system to use.

Thanks to all. I didn't consider the heat but that would only be a problem for a few months here in Michigan. I may have to call them up and discuss a purchase.

The one thing I did notice when I was in the States with it on was that a lot of folk obviously thought it was a holder for a weapon and I got a few startled looks.
