An interview with grubnide

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I have been taking photographs for about 15 years. I love the memories that the photos bring back and this has been a primary motivation for sight, time and place over so many years.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
I have had no formal training but I read a lot and try and put what I read into practice when I can. I especially love landscape.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
It was just being in the right place at the right time and the cuteness really got to me.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
This was taken with a nikon d300.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
Yes, there is always a better way on different settings, shutter speed and ISO. Its a matter of time and trying different things.

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
Besides work, I paint, sculpt, and teach myself photoshop as well as getting out into the bush as often as I can.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
http://www.betterphoto.com has some of my photographs.
Thank you all for looking at this competition and taking the time to vote and I feel very privileged that you have cast some votes for me.

An interview with DebAnn

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started? I got my first SLR - a Minolta - about 35 years ago. There were several young kids in the family and I wanted to shoot memorable portraits of them.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most? I took a summer B&W photography course a long time ago (still using film) at our local Ryerson Polytech. Teacher was a cinematographer. Mostly I shoot photos of people.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot? My son just brought home a new puppy - a Dogue de Bordeaux. She was a perfect subject!

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup? Canon T3i with a 18-135 Canon lens. Shot it sitting on the kitchen floor with big French doors behind me. I think I used a flash with a diffuser bounced off the ceiling.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again? I don't think so.

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do? I do quite a few things already so I'd fill the time - fibre art (pictorial quilts), copywriting and graphic design.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
I am currently building a website. However, I have made some books of wedding shoots so here is a link to two (one solely by me and one I shot with my sister who is also an avid photographer:

Thank you.
