A MN photographer wanted to do something different to get his name out, so he went to a designer and came up with some unusual ideas, like using Polaroids as post cards and slides as business cards.

Hi jerryc41, I never sew that done before and it's a great idea. American ingenuity at its finest.

Over the years I've designed a lot of business cards, but I must admit that's the first time I've seen this idea.

Another idea, using a regular sized card, would be to order some with a die cut-out for a slide. Then assemble them yourself, perhaps with one side plain, and the other printed. Doing the assembly yourself would be more economical than paying a company to do it, as that part is labor intensive and more costly. Plus, you could use a lot of different slide images, or the same one.

Another idea would be to glue a small photo print onto regular sized business cards. It adds a subtle 3D, textured effect without a lot of extra cost.

For a while I printed my cards on transparency sheet and cut them to business card size. The cards were black and clear to represent black and white film

Great idea. Picture as 1,000 words. That says it all.

Hi Jerry,
Sounds like a pretty clever idea, eh? Something to catch the eye at least. I bet the consumer will remember that dealer.

Some folks won't even recognize the significance of a slide.

"Picture as 1,000 words"?

Since you are such a prolific poster, what's your ratio running at? :)

Oh yeah - almost forgot,

Thanks

Ratio? I don't think I have one of them.

What I meant by the "Picture..." was that just seeing that business card, a person can tell what the business is.

Vistapaint makes all my business cards for $10. Also try 3" CDs or DVDs and show your art. HOW uses slides any more.
I design the cards my way.

The slide thing is a different idea. For the last 10 years or so, I've used 4x6 prints as postcards. I'll get them printed while on vacation and use them instead of buying any. Getting a white of black border around them kinda sells the idea a little more. Also sent images from kid's birthday parties as postcards. Kids love getting mail, especially if it's thier own photo.
