Hi! I have a question for everyone/anyone. I took some shots for our college jazz band as two of it's members are leaving after 19 years with the group, but because of the stage I have a shadow problem and I'm not sure how to fix it. GW says he's seen it done, but he isn't feeling well and can't remember where the tool is at. Does anyone know? This is an example of one of the pictures. We only had minutes to get the shot because it was inbetween bands. One of those band fest kinda things, you know?
Thanks! :D

I would use layers. Create a duplicate layer, then make adjustments to bring up the shadow area. Then erase the "blown out" upper section of that layer and have it over the original so that the final image has the 'original' top portion and the 'adjusted' bottom portion.
I am not all that good at this, but if you would like to see what I have come up with, I can post if you want. I tried one in Picasa, but the best was done with PaintShopPro x4
I quickly used lightroom gradient filter for a quick fix
Your fix was very effective, but can you explain what you did and how you did it in more detail.

The Graduated filter in Lightroom has many sliders I used + exposure
Rotated the filter to line up with the shadow line. And found a balanced setting. The gentleman in the middle with hat and glasses I used the adjustment brush to lighten his face because he wasn't in the areas effected by the graduated filter.
Go to You Tube search for" Graduated Filter Lightroom "there are many
examples.
Now that's a worthwhile difference! What a rescue.

Quite right! I am a Picasa 3.9 user, which does not have such filters.
Does either or both PS Elements & PhotoShop have similar 'Graduated Filters'?
This is for pepsiman
