PS Content Aware feature

I wasn't even aware of this feature in Photoshop CS5 until someone here mentioned it. Then I got an email from PS telling how to do it. Just select something you want to remove and leave a little space around the item. Go to edit, fill, and click on content aware. Below that, put it on normal and click okay. Control D to deselect when you are finished. Works beautifully!

Great tip. You can use the keyboard shortcut after making your loose selection with backspace, then the fill dialog shows up with content aware already selected, hit ok. Then Ctrl D.

When it works, it is amazing. Sometimes it leaves mismatches which can usually be edited away.

Mary. They added this component into photoshop elements 9 as well. It is an amazing capability,

John.

True enough. Patch tool comes in quite handy also.

Thanks for bringing up that quest and educating me. In MS's Digital Image Pro, it's called "Smart Erase." That term, Content Aware, is very misleading and confusing.

I learn something new here every day.

You have to be careful though it's not always a seamless transformation.... if you select an area near something else or through something else ... sometimes it really messes things up. Which is where ctrl/z comes in handy.
The healing brush or spot healing tool also can use content-aware.
